在跨文化交际中,对颜色词的翻译也异常重要,而对于颜色词翻译方法讨论得最多的不外乎是归化和异化翻译法,近年来,国内的外语类学刊发表了不少有关归化和异化的文章,这些文章努力将西方文学批评和比较文学理论中关于归化和异化的讨论运用于翻译理论和实践之中,这些文章从不同的角度拓宽了归化和异化的研究.但归化和异化翻译的讨论仍存在一些误区,最明显的是将归化与异化翻译等同于直译与意译,将文学策略和文化的意识形态同语言的策略和翻译的技巧等同起来,从而将关于归化和异化的讨论拉回到传统和经验的讨论之中,这样做有碍归化和异化翻译研究的发展,并且在对颜色词的翻译中不能很好的打破目标语的语言常规,保持原文的异国风味.
