As a new type support for combustion catalyst, besides high thermal stability, it also should have high adsorption effciency of active species. In contrast, the appearance of 0.01%Pt–0.02%Pd/stainless steel catalysts, calcined at different temperature of 500 °C, 800 °C and 1000 °C were prepared for further measurement. From SEM image shown in Fig. 4a, it could be seen that many particles exists in their cluster or crystal forms onto the surface of catalyst after 500 °C calcined, they are the platinum and palladium particles on anodized dielectric ?lms. The mean diameters of the particles are approximately in the 1–5 lm size range. Interestingly, SEM investigations show that the PdO particle sizes are also found to be quite uni- form after 800 and 1000 °C calcination. The particles appeared in the case of Fig. 4b and c tend to be more uniform with the increase of temperature. Also, the average diameter of the platinum and palladium particles was reduced to 1–2 lm in their size, respectively. These results indicate that the anodized dielectric ?lm has a considerable dispersed effect to active phases of platinum and pal- ladium with the increased of temperature.
