西方翻译史是在公元前3世纪揭开它的第一页.第二个翻译高潮涌现于罗马帝国的后期至中世纪初期,是宗教性质的.主要标志是将由希伯来语和希腊语写的《圣经》译成拉丁语,即《通俗拉丁文本圣经》.中世纪中期,即11至12世纪之间,西方翻译家们云集西班牙的托来多,把大批作品从阿拉伯语译成拉丁语.14至16世纪欧洲发生的文艺复兴运动,是一场思想和文学革新的大运动,也是西方翻译史上的一次大发展.文艺复兴后,从17世纪下半叶至20世纪上半叶,西方各国的翻译继续向前发展.第六个发展阶段表现在第二次世界大战结束以来的翻译活动.1946年,英美学者首次讨论用计算机做翻译.（P88-92《翻译学》谭载喜）

Translation is a really acient activity wherever in China or the west.In fact,the translation of language is almost as the same old as the langulage throughout the whole human history.The Translation in the west can divided into six parts.
The history of western translation begins at 3rd B.C.And the next climax is from later stage of Roman empire to early middle ages which is religious.The main sign of the translation history is translate the form Greek and Hebrew to Latin,which also called .During the middle of the Middle Ages,from 11-12 century,the western translators came to Toledo,Spain and translated a large number of works from Arabic to Latin.
