prestressed concrete
mild-steel bars are used in ordinary reinforced concrete beams to overcome the tensile weakness of concrete.another way of overcoming the weakness is by prestressing the contrete so as to induce in its conpression stresses before it is subject to the normal tensile stresses due to bending.when the beam is loaded and bending occurs,the bending tensile stress is neutralized by the prestressing compression so that no actual tensile stress develops.in this way the concrete is used more efficiently and no tensile cracks occur as they do in ordinary reinforced concrete.this principle is illustrated in Figure1.

预应力钢筋混凝土
为克服混凝土拉力不足而采取的办法有,混凝土梁的加强钢筋通常采用半刚性钢材,另一种办法是采用预应力浇筑法,就是在混凝土受到张力(梁的底面受拉)变弯曲之前,给它加上挤压力,使得混凝土梁受力出现弯曲时,它的弯曲力被预应压力抵消,使得实际的弯曲拉力不再扩大,这种方法在混凝土预制中很有效,不会受拉出现裂纹,物理原理见图1所示
