All over the world teachers are recognized each year for the contribution they make to society.
In the Philippines,Teachers' Day takes place on October 5.But it is actually celebrated in elementary and secondary schools between the months of September and Ocotober.And students give their teachers flowers and perform short skits,sing songs or read poems to their teachers.
Southe Korea celebrates Teahcers'Day on May15.It began when a group of Red Cross youth team members visited their sick ex-teachers at hospitals.Later it became the Teachers' Day.Now on Teahcers'Day students visit their former teachers who are retired or sick and offer greetings and thank you cards.Many schools close on Teachers'Day or use the day to have an outing for the teahcers.
In the United States,Teacher's Day takes place on May5,and students offer small gifts to their special teachers.The National Education Association describes National Teacher Day as"a day for honoring teachers and recognizing the lasting contributions they make to our lifes.'
We should all remember the special role teahcers play in the education of youth and children.From the time of Confucius,teachers have been entrusted with the job of developing the world's most precious resource-the children.Teachers inspire the next generation to develop a passion for life,and they encourage students to have a thirst for knowledge and love of learning.
