A.The design of an Information Based Manufacturing
framework
To realize the above described scenario,there is a need
to create an Information Based Manufacturing (INBM)
framework which will enable collaborative use of
resources and respond to a specific customer
requirement [17].One of the research activities at the
Center for Information Based Manufacturing (CINBM)
deals with the creation of such an INBM framework.
The overall design of the key components of such a

framework was outlined by Cecil in [17] (see figure 1).
When a set of requirements to assemble a set of micro
devices is provided (as inputs),the INBM framework
seeks to facilitate this accomplishment using 3 major
components.The first component is an information
oriented process model which captures the relationships
between the constraining factors,performing objects,
decisions outcomes and driving inputs at various levels
of abstraction; this model can drive the overall activities
in an INBM framework; additional information on
these models can be found in [12,19].A language
called the engineering Enterprise Modeling Language
(eEML) (proposed by Xavier and Cecil) is being used
to create such a model [12].
