1. The 2008 Beijing Olympics saw China winning an astonishing 51 Gold medals in total. Many of the athletes shot to stardom overnight and win themselves a great fortune granted by the government as well.
Some people felt that the athletes deserve the rewards as they put in so much effort to achieve their status. This reward can also serve as a motivation for the younger future athletes.
Others felt that the athletes should not be rewarded as they are brought up by the country, it is their duty to win medals for China. Once they get hold of the money, they may retire immediately. Some companies also take the opportunity to promote their products by advertising through the athete.
I felt that athletes should be rewarded handsomely, as they are heroes of the country. They sacrifice their entire life training and practicing, some give up halfway, some lack stamina and strength to become the top performers. Hence those who succeed should be deeply treasured by the country.
2. Parents nowadays have a trend of sending their children to summer camp. There are a few reasons for doing this. First, they feel that it is a great way for the children to spend their time learning and playing at the same time. Second, as the summer camp usually comprises of english lessons, competitions and other useful courses, parents may feel that their kids will lose out to their friends if they did not join the camp, while every one else joins.
I do not want to join such camps this summer holiday. I would rather spend my time studying at home, playing with my dog, and learn some new dishes with my mother.
