pring is tht best season of the year.The weather gets warmer and warmer.My clas i'amates and I took a one-day sightseeing around our city.The scene was pretty.But when we saw the rivers along our city,I felt very sorry,and thoughit a lot.
With the development of modern agriculture and industry,more and more waste water is being poured into rivers.It has caused serious pollution.The river is becoming so dirty that no living things can live in it.The river is giving off a terrible smell.
We make an urgent appeal that measures should be taken to cope with the situation.Our government should start building various facilities such as sewage treatment!plant and encourage scientists to work out more and better ways to reduce the pollution of water.
Water is tho source of our lives.It is very important to protect water.

The idea of light pollution has developed with the increase of lights in cities.In many areas,this light makes it difficult or impossible to (4)observe stars and (5)planets in the night sky.In Nineteen-Eighty-Eight,the International Dark-Sky Association formed.This organization wants to reduce light pollution in the night sky.It also (6)urges the effective use of electric lighting.
There are a number of reasons why light pollution is important.One has become clear at the Mount Wilson Observatory near Los Angeles,California.Mount Wilson Observatory was home to the largest (7)telescopes in the world during the first half of the Nineteen-Hundreds.
During that period,Los Angeles grew to become one of America's biggest cities.
Today,light from Los Angeles makes the night sky above Mount Wilson very bright.It is no longer an important research center because of light pollution.
Light pollution threatens to reduce the scientific value of research telescopes in other important observatories.They include Lick Observatory near San Jose,California and Yerkes Observatory near Chicago,Illinois.
Light pollution is the result of wasted energy.Bright light that shines into the sky is not being used to provide light where it is needed on Earth.Poorly designed lighting causes a great deal of light pollution.Lights that are brighter than necessary also cause light pollution.
Recently,two Italian (8)astronomers and an American (9)environmental scientist created a world map of the night sky.The map shows that North America,Western Europe and Japan have the greatest amount of light pollution.
Most people in America are surprised to find out that they are able to see our own (10)galaxy,The (11)Milky Way,with their own eyes.But about three-fourths of Americans cannot see the Milky Way because of man-made light.

As the world is getting more densely populated,pollution presents a severe problem.More people make more waste.All this waste is polluting our surroundings.
Pollution has a bad influence on our life.The air is pollnted by the smoke and fog coming out of the factory chimneys.Plants die for want of fresh air.The river is polluted and the fish are unfit to live.There is noise pollution made by cars and factories,etc,which hurts the ear.
It is high time we did something about pollution.I suggest more trees be planted to keep the air fresh.We should purify the water and make use of the wastes and turn harm into good.
By cur common efforts,we will make a clean and purified environment for life and work.

I read a piece of news recently.It says that in Japan marly businessmen ave selling fresh air to customers.and now it is becoming more and more popular.Why?--Fresh air is getting less and less in Japan,and so is it in the U.S.A.
In fact,environmental pollution is a very serious problem the whole world is facing.
it is mainly caused by the waste products released from artificial substances,industrial
production and increased consumption of goods.Bedsides,the use of chemical substances
in agriculture also causes environmental pollution.Look at the sky,you can see that dense smoke is being released from the high and big chimneys; those dirty and poisonous substances are flowing into the rivers that we use for drinking water and millions of tons of waste products are heaping around us.
How to change this condition?More and more countries are trying to work out some effective means to bring it under control,but no great success has been made.

We all know that clean air is important to good health.Wherever you go and whatever you do,you are always surrounded by a sea of gases that we call air.If there are impurities in the air,they may be absorbed by our bodies and make us ill.We need clean air,but unfortunately,air pollution is globally present,especially in cities.
Many large cities are anything but pollution-free.Our cities have many factories,which we need to make food,clothing and other things.Every year these factories pour millions upon millions of tons of smog into air.Power plants and houses that burn coal add greatly to air pollution.Besides,there are more cars in cities now.Once out on the streets,they will take in fresh air and replace it with poisonous gases.
Our country is trying hard to prevent and control air pollution.As long as every citizen also realizes its importance and makes join efforts,the day will come soon when people will take in only clean air.Then,the sunlight will no longer be blackened out by smoke and soot.

Pollution is harmful to human beings.Polluted water causes many kinds of diseases such as diarrhea,enteritis,etc.And sometimes these diseases even take man鈥檚 life.Dirty air or air-borne garbage causes stinging eyes and running nose.Pollutants are destructive.They cause runs in nylon stockings and crack rubber tires and they eat away at stone and rust iron.
Measures have been taken to control pollution.In recent years,legislative steps have been introduced to control pollution.Rivers are being cleaned.Air is purified,and pollutants are being trapped before they are poured out of chimneys.
However,pollution problems have not been completely solved.Pesticides are widely used almost everywhere.They pollute soil,water and food.They have the power to make our streams fishless and our gardens and woodlands silent and birdless.Some factories are still using air as a dumping place for wastes.Some lakes are still dirty.Quite a few chimneys are still pouring smoke into air and noise pollution remains serious.
