Music is undoubtedly a very important element in movies.I call it the “second dialogue”; this is because music often comes along with grand and spectacular scenes or major events,and also comes along with those moments of indescribable matters in the minds of the movie characters; in this respect,movie music ingeniously plays an interpretation role.It either arouses the audience’s excited and heart-throbbing feelings or hangs them in suspense and stifling tension.A piece of wonderful background music is like an icing on the cake for a movie.In the early era of silent movies,every cinema would provide a pianist or a band to play the background music for the movie according to a specially written music score or specific hints given by the movie company.Just like Lee R.Bobker pointed out,” Ever since the first note struck from a naff piano to accompany a silent movie,music has been a faithful companion of movies.” Considering even the early silent movies could not do without music,one can well perceive the importance of music.
