The Olympic Games
The Olympic Games take place every four years and are held in different countries in turn. The host country provides stadiums, swimming pools, food and living rooms. Usually a famous athlete from the host country passes a torch to the stadium at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.
The Olympic Games have a spirit of understanding, friendship and fair play between the nations.
The well-known Olympic flag is white with five connected rings in the center with colors: blue, yellow, black, green and red. It represents the uniting of all the five continents.
A conversation with a foreigner
In China people are quite open with the questioning, but it is impolite to ask that type of questions to western people about age or money, don’t ask a lady her age. Don’t ask a foreigner his salary. Never discuss anything about religion or personal privacy. In conversation politeness is very important.
Tiananmen Gate Square
About ten minutes later, we got off the bus., and saw a very large square. At the center of the square stood a tall monument. To the north was Tiananmen Gate. It was a magnificent building. There were many people, men and women, old and young. Some of them were foreign tourists. Everywhere we saw beautiful flowers and smiling faces, and heard merry songs and laughter, some people took a walk there. Some took photos. Some boys and girls flew kites. They all looked very happy.
