一道英语填空（高二）
I will be away for at least a year,I'd appreciate hearing from you now and then 【telling】 me how everyone is getting along.
为什么这里tell要加ing?
还有能否帮我分析下句子结构,我觉得这个句子结构有些混乱.

1.前句I will be away for at least a year.就不分析了.
2.后句：I'd appreciate hearing from you now and then 【telling】 me how everyone is getting along.
= I would appreciate hearing from you now and then 【telling】 me how everyone is getting along.
1）I'd是I would的缩写.
用would表示说话人一种礼貌的语气,也可以视为虚拟语气.
2）hearing from you now and then是appreciate的宾语.
appreciate doing sth是固定搭配,意思是“感谢（某人）做某事”.
至于now and then“时不时”,是一个时间状语,并不是楼上很多人说的and是并列hearing和telling的用法.
3）telling...是一个现在分词短语做伴随状语,即伴随hearing from you now and then而同时发生的动作.
之所以用telling,是因为tell不是和appreciate并列做谓语,而是做伴随状语,所以不能和appreciate一样,去用动词原形.
因为该动作tell的逻辑主语是you,两者之间是主动关系,所以用现在分词形式.
4）该伴随状语中又含有一个宾语从句how everyone is getting along,相当于sth,和前面的telling me构成固定搭配tell sb sth.
