Everybody makes mistakes, this is a fact. Though at the time I was too young to realise this. It was at a Christmas recital, a joyful time filled with happy faces. I was to give a performance on the piano. It seemed simple enough at the time, I was confident and excited. Perhaps I was over-confident. I thought too high of myself. Despite the protests and warnings my parents gave me, I abandoned practice often and went out to play. After all how could you expect an 8-years old to sit in front of a piano all day?
I kept up that playful and childish attitude, subconsciously I knew I was going to regret it, but at the time making snowmen was all I could think about.
When the performance day came, the nerves took the best of me, and facing the pressure, the expectant eyes in the audience, my hands froze. I couldn't move.
To this day I remember my embarrassment on that stage, it was a mistake to not practice as often as I could. But through this I learnt that practice makes perfect, and I would not make that same mistake ever again.
