　　九谷口自然风景区位于怀柔县怀北镇河防口,沿怀丰公路经雁栖湖北行5公里,与青龙峡毗邻相望,距京城约80公里.景区占地面积700余公顷,山木覆盖率85%以上,动物栖息其间,具有良好的生态环境,是植树造林、夏令营和旅游休闲的理想场所.
　　有保留基本完好的明代古长城.从山口望去,长城两翼齐飞于峻岭群峰之巅,虽非当年雄姿英发,但浩气依旧、神韵盎然.据史料记载,明清时这里已是军事重镇,常年重兵把守.烽火台“夹扁楼”更是长城建筑史上的精品,在八达岭博物馆中有详细记载.
　　景区有九条主要山谷即望城谷、银河谷、白杨谷、响泉谷、一线天、鲸石谷、桃园谷、牛蹄谷、藤箩谷,其风景各异,美轮美奂.如：鲸石谷、天仙台、元宝石、帽子石、响泉谷、雷劈石、观音石、卧佛石；藤箩谷中万株藤箩盘枝错节,为北方罕见.谷中只要有水,就有鱼、有虾、有蛙……
