为什么不用known?从句不是应该用过去时态吗?

如果这句话没问题的话,可以这么理解
他直到要结婚了也没让它知道
可这样就有些不符合中国人的思维了
改成这样会不会好些

再问：是一道选择题，所以就是无法理解，我本来认为可以说成他没让他要结婚的这件事让别人知道，it指代结婚的这件事，但是后面用一般将来时就不对，而且要用known
